Charity Car Wash Planned For Wednesday, Aug. 10th For Richardson’s Children’s Fund

The Frederick Shell gas station on West Patrick Street will be holding a charity car wash on Wednesday, August 10th. Local resident Gary Brook says the owner of the establishment, Joe Parslies, will be donating all the proceeds from car washes that day to the Richardson's Children's Fund.

The kids' mother, Tranice Richardson, was shot and killed on Friday evening, July 8th, in the Hillcrest Commons area of Frederick. Police have charged Melvin "Rock" Smith with the slaying. Authorities says he's the father of one of the children.

"Being the youngest members of our community, of our city, we want to show that our community, our city, will stand up and be counted on when someone needs help," Brooks says.

He says one of the children was diagnosed with cancer, but it's in remission.

The charity car wash will take place from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

If you can't make it to the car wash, you can mail a check to the Richardson Children's Fund. The address is the Frederick Alliance for Youth, 1150 Orchard Terrace, Frederick, Md., 21703. When you fill out your check, indicate that it's for the Richardson Children's Fund.
